RUSSIAN RAILROADS' COMPLEX MODERNIZATION PROJECT SUBMITTED

MOSCOW, September 20 (RIA Novosti) - The international investment consortium "Telecommunications - electronics - multimedia - Internet" (TEMI), cooperating with the leading European companies and banks, submitted on Monday to the Russian Railways management a project of complex modernization of Russian railroads until 2010.

The Russian Railways joint stock company press service told journalists that the project envisages modernization of automatics and electronics, computerization, construction of telecommunication networks and an infrastructure of railroad transport in line with the existing Russian standards and with the use of the latest technologies in the field of automation of railroad transport.

The cost of the project is estimated at some 30 billion euros.

The TEMI group intends to ensure the financing to the tune of some 24 billion euros, i.e., 80% of the total sum of investments. Investments on the Russian part will total 6 billion euros (20%).

Proposals of the TEMI banking group envisage a possibility to repay by the Russian side investments to the sum of 20 to 50% of the total cost of the project with deliveries of raw materials, goods and specialized equipment. The type and volume of deliveries will be a subject for additional talks.
