MOSCOW, August 8 (RIA Novosti) - On Tuesday, South Korea's president Roh Moo-hyun received a Russian delegation headed by Igor Levitin, Russia's transport minister.

"During the meeting they discussed the project of connecting the Trans-Siberian Railway (Transsib) to the Trans-Korean Railway," says the transport ministry's press-release received by RIA Novosti Wednesday.

According to the press-release, the South Korean president supported the Russian side's proposal to have a trial run of a freight train with container cargo from the port of Pusan via North Korea and further by Transsib to Western Europe.

The freight train's run will be discussed in greater detail at the trilateral meeting due to be held in Pyonguang this October. The North-Korean side is expected to set forth its opinion of the project at this meeting.

Roh Moo-hyun also supported the Russian side's proposal to step up the activities of the Russia-South Korea Business Council.

In turn, Levitin told the South Korean president that Moscow was looking forward to seeing him at the summit to be held there.

"The Russian president and the government attach great importance to the forthcoming summit talks," says the ministry's press-release in conclusion.
