TOKYO, September 6 (RIA Novosti's Andrei Fesyun) - Sergei Kiriyenko, the Russian president's envoy to the Volga federal district, called on Japanese companies to make structural decisions on strategic cooperation with Russian partners.

All necessary prerequisites exist for this, Mr. Kiriyenko told RIA Novosti.

"The internal situation in Russia has stabilized, and a permanent economic growth is seen. A predictable, reasonable policy of the Russian leadership and the growth of prices for energy carriers have resulted in investments of Russian companies into the district's industrial branches, first of all, transport mechanical engineering," said Mr. Kiriyenko. This, in the envoy's opinion, is an "absolutely necessary" factor to receive investments from abroad.

The Volga federal district maintains active economic ties with enterprises of the European countries, however, in Mr. Kiriyenko's words, the price/quality ratio in the sphere of transport mechanical engineering is way more favorable with Japanese-produced goods.

"In the next three-five years, Russia will be faced with a boom in the sphere of creation of an infrastructure, and here, Japan could seriously help us with a considerable benefit for itself," Mr. Kiriyenko said.

RIA Novosti was told in the district press service that the envoy's visit to Japan will last until September 11. The visit aims at stimulating economic ties of separate enterprises and whole branches of industry with partners in Japan.

The program of stay includes Mr. Kiriyenko's meetings with the leadership of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren) and Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi. He will also visit a number of Japanese automakers and big industrial concerns.
