MOSCOW, May 27, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The first conference of Russia's business circles in Georgia will make a great contribution to bilateral relations, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said at a Thursday conference in Moscow.

"We welcome this conference and believe it will certainly contribute to implementation of agreements achieved during Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili's visit to Moscow as well as during his meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin," Alexander Yakovenko stressed.

"We believe the conference will contribute greatly to mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation between Russia and Georgia," the Russian diplomat emphasized.

Alexander Yakovenko recalled that during his last visit to Russia Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania stressed how important it was to attract Russian business to Georgia to develop social and economic sphere in the country.

The first press conference of the Russian business circles will take place in Tbilisi on May 28-29. Russian Minister for Economic development and trade German Gref will head the Russian delegation.

It is the 3rd large-scale meeting of Georgian and Russian businessmen for the last 13 years. The last Russia-Georgia forum took place in Tbilisi in October 2003. The package of investment projects presented at the forum amounted to more than several billion U.S. dollars.
