AUSTRALIA INTERESTED IN COOPERATION WITH SAKHALIN

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, May 27 (RIA Novosti) - The Australian trade mission has completed its work in Sakhalin on Thursday. The mission visited the administrative center of the Russian Far-Eastern island for the third time already, Australian ambassador to Russia Leslie Adrian Rowe told journalists. This time representatives of 14 Australian companies visited Sakhalin.

"The two previous missions consisting of 24 Australian companies were a success. Most companies already made contracts with foreign and Russian enterprises involved in Sakhalin oil and gas projects," Leslie Rowe said.

Businessmen representing coal, timber and fish processing industries of Australia visited Sakhalin this time. The island is famous for these riches.

The ambassador hopes the businessmen have found partners in Sakhalin. The Australian embassy in Russia coordinates the continent's cooperation with Russia's Far East. Leslie Rowe visited Sakhalin for the fourth time already. According to him, the fourth trade mission will come to the island this fall.

The diplomat is sure in the successful development of Australian-Sakhalin economic links.
