PARIS, May 14 (RIA Novosti's Andrei Nizamutdinov) - The USA will be glad to sign, within the year, a protocol with Russia on the latter joining the World Trade Organisation, says Robert Zellek, US negotiator.

No precise deadlines are figuring at the talks, but the teams will be happy to finish before the year's end, he said to Novosti.

Our interviewee and Hermann Gref, Russia's Minister of Economic Development and Trade, met in Paris two days ago. Mr. Zellek is of the highest opinion of the conference, and looks forward to another-tentatively, in St. Petersburg, July next. It depends on whether the Parties make sufficient progress within the upcoming few weeks, he said.

The US negotiator highlighted intellectual property protection among priority issues. It implies a huge market, with a $1.5 billion annual turnover. An impressive arrangement of educational issues also remain unsettled for now. The matter entirely depends on how soon Russia will make relevant amendments in its acting legislation, he pointed out.
