NATO Secretary General said that North Atlantic Treaty Organization framework countries of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Canada will set out plans for the four battalions in the Baltics and Eastern Europe.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) framework countries of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Canada will set out plans for the four battalions in the Baltics and Eastern Europe, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Tuesday.

"Tomorrow at our meeting, the framework nations… will set out their plans for the battalions they will lead, and other allies will confirm their contributions," Stoltenberg said, pledging to unveil the contributions on Wednesday.

He added that the 28 NATO member states planned to discuss the reinforcement of their Black Sea presence during their October 26-27 defense ministerial meeting.

Stoltenberg confirmed after the June summit that the alliance had agreed to deploy four multinational battalions to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. The ministers also agreed on measures to enhance defense and deterrence in the Black Sea region.
