"The Russian side will provide necessary support for Chinese friends during their current G20 presidency, and in preparation for the G20 summit, which will be held on September 4-5 in Hangzhou…," Putin said in Beijing.
President Vladimir Putin is paying an official visit to China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Earlier in the day, the Russian president was invited by Xi Jinping to the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou to attend the G20 summit.
“I have already invited President Putin to come to the Chinese city of Hangzhou in early September of this year to take part in the G20 Leaders’ Summit. We will continue our opinion exchange there,” Xi said.
The G20 is an international forum for the leaders and senior financial official of the world's 20 major economies. The 10th G20 summit was held in Turkey in November 2015.
