Leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member states are expected to make a decision during a Tuesday meeting in Astana on negotiations with China about trade and economic cooperation, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which is the supreme EEU body and includes presidents of the EEU member states, will be held in the Kazakh capital Astana.

"It is expected that the leaders [of the EEU] will set a task to the Eurasian Economic Commission about the signing a joint statement with China on the issue of the beginning of the negotiations in order to reach an agreement on trade and economic cooperation between the Eurasian [Economic] Union and China [during the meeting in Astana]," Ushakov told reporters.

He added that at the moments, EEU specialists were preparing a roadmap of cooperation with Beijing, which would include a set of priority projects, including in the sphere of transport infrastructure.

The EEU, comprising Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, is an international organization that encourages regional economic integration through the free movement of goods, services, and people within the union.
