Russia, Brunei Interested in Cooperation on Hydrocarbons Processing
Cooperation in the energy sector is likely, as Russia's oil giant LUKoil is expected to buy oil from Brunei for the first time, and Russia's energy company Gazprom is also interested in establishing the cooperation with Brunei, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
SOCHI (Sputnik) — Russia and Brunei are interested in cooperation on the joint processing of hydrocarbons, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.
"Various dimensions of bilateral relations and a dialogue at parliamentary level were discussed, and the possibility of cooperation in the production and processing of hydrocarbons was announced," Peskov told journalists following the talks of Russian President Vladimir Putin with Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah.
According to Peskov, the cooperation in the energy sector is likely, as Russia's oil giant LUKoil is expected to buy oil from Brunei for the first time, and Russia's energy company Gazprom is also interested in establishing the cooperation with Brunei.
On May 19-20, the Russian resort city of Sochi hosts Russia-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit. Brunei is an ASEAN member alongside Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
