According to Russian Minister of Defence, Russia considers Vietnam to be a stragic partner in Asia-Pacific region security buiding.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia considers Vietnam as a strategic ally and key partner on strengthening security in the Asia-Pacific region, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Monday.

"We view your country as a strategic ally, a long-term and reliable friend. Vietnam is our key partner in ensuring security in the Asia-Pacific region," Shoigu said.

Speaking at a meeting with newly-appointed Vietnamese Defense Minister Ngo Xuan Lich, who is leading a high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation on an official visit to Russia, Shoigu stressed that maintaining close ties with Vietnam is one of the priorities of the Russian foreign policy.
