According to him, opening the border for migrants without providing necessary conditions is something that poses a threat to their lives. He specifically pointed to the plight of Christian refugees, who flee Islamic extremism in Syria only to be thrown into detention centers with Muslims and attacked.

With respect to Merkel, he said her policy "was irresponsible despite the fact that Germany does more than any other European country in relation to refugees. But many people have died because of this."
He referred to 150 people from his diocese who decided to go to Germany at the behest of the German Chancellor; 20 of them reportedly drowned in the Mediterranean Sea.
"They were educated and well-mannered young people who were full of hopes," he said.
The priest expressed hope that the EU will resolve this problem. In this sense, he said, obligatory registration is of paramount importance, which should help stop potential terrorists from arriving in Europe
This fall, the priest helped to free several hostages from Daesh captivity in the Syrian province of Homs. Since then, he has reportedly been continuing to save people from death, risking his own life.
