Air France Confirms Suspicious Object on Diverted Flight 'Bomb Hoax'
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Sunday, a Boeing 777 with 473 people on board, traveling from Mauritius to Paris, made an emergency landing in Kenya after a suspicious object was found by a passenger in the plane’s restroom.

"It seems like a nasty joke," Gagey told CNN.

He said that the object looked like a cardboard box with papers and "something like a kitchen timer" inside, as cited by the channel.

The channel said that law enforcement agencies have detained four people who were on board the plane for further questioning.

On Sunday, the Kenya Airports Authority released an official statement regarding the incident in which it said local security services had moved the "bomb" to a safe place outside the airport to be examined. However, the word "bomb" was later removed from the official statement.
