Uzbekistan will replace its ambassador to Russia, Akmal Kamalov, who has been in office for over a year, Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry said.

TASHKENT (Sputnik) Kamalov, who has headed the Uzbek diplomatic mission to Russia since October 2014, was appointed chairman of Uzkhlopkopromeksport, a major cotton fiber exporter, the ministry wrote on its Facebook page on Tuesday.

At the moment the post of Uzbek ambassador to Russia remains vacant.
