In an interview with LifeNews, the 31-year-old said that he refused the proposal despite the militants promising the earth to him.
"They came to my place and pledged to provide me with a good home and a high salary if I go over to their side," he said.
Mustafa added that he has never had any regrets over his decision, and that the latest events in his country have just confirmed his choice.
"I already knew that they will destroy my country, something that can now be seen more distinctly than before. It's a good thing that I refused to help them", Mustafa said referring to Islamic State militants.
Right now, he works as a physician in a local hospital and is due to move from his temporary accommodation to his own house in 2016, according to the district administration.
Meanwhile, Mustafa's neighbors have said that they are happy about a doctor living next door to them, a person they said they can always turn for help.
