MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Destruction of chemical weapons stockpiles in Syria will be completed by the end of 2015, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday.
"According to the latest report of the Director-General of the Technical Secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons of July 2015, about one percent of 1,300 ton of total volume of toxic substances removed from Syria is to be destroyed. Due to the technical difficulties faced by the US contracting company, the process is expected to be completed by the end of 2015," Zakharova told reporters.
"Half of them, including all the tunnels, have already been wiped out," Zakharova stressed.
