Ukrainian police are investigating reports about the dispersal of Maidan and the alleged detention of its organizers.

KIEV (Sputnik) – Kiev police are looking into reports about the dispersal of a Maidan rally and the alleged detention of one of the organizers, a police spokeswoman said Monday.

On Sunday, demonstrators set up tents in central Kiev, demanding that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko report on the work he has done over the course of the year.

Earlier reports suggested that one of the organizers of the rally had been detained by people dressed in uniforms, after which he was allegedly driven away to an unknown location.

"The police are carrying out checks, no one has been detained, a criminal case has not yet been launched," Yulia Mustash told RIA Novosti.

According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry press service, the tents were erected without a permit by protesters.

Initially, the protesters were allegedly approached by police and asked to dismantle the tents. Later, media reports emerged of unidentified individuals tearing down the tents. When law enforcement personnel arrived on the scene, several demonstrators were reportedly detained.
