Washington Expands Ukraine Sanctions 'Blacklist'
MOSCOW (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov Earlier in the day, the US Department of Treasury added 14 individuals from Ukraine and two Russian-based entities, one of them the Eurasian Youth Union, to its list of sanctions over the Ukraine crisis.

"This was expected, moreover, we were confident that we [already] were [included] in some lists. With this situation in Russia, being in the sanctions list is now an honor," Makeeva told Sputnik.

As for the possible reason why the Eurasian Youth Union was included Makeeva told the news agency that "the reason is absolutely obvious."

US Continues Bilateral Talks With EU Regarding New Anti-Russia Sanctions

"The fact is that we consistently argue for years and note that the ongoing conflicts in the world today are the result of global confrontation between Russia and the West, the West being represented by the United States," the spokeswoman concluded.

The European Union, the United States and their allies blame Russia for fueling the armed conflict in Ukraine. The West has imposed several rounds of sanctions against Moscow, targeting its defense, banking and energy sectors, as well as certain individuals.

In response, Russia introduced a year-long embargo on food imports against countries that imposed sanctions.
