WASHINGTON, October 23 (RIA Novosti) - The Canadian police are still checking if there are more shooters, involved into Wednesday's shooting at the War Memorial in Ottawa, Police Constable Marc Soucy said.
"We're actively looking to see if there's anymore shooters," Soucy told RIA Novosti Wednesday, adding that the scene is still blocked.
"We have two confirmed deaths right now," Soucy added.
The police website states that one shooting victim succumbed to injuries and was a member of the Canadian Forces.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones," the statement said.
One male suspect has also been confirmed killed by the city police.
Soucy noted that there are no more details available, due to an ongoing investigation
"Some details are being kept for (investigative) purposes," he said
On Wednesday morning, a soldier guarding the National War Memorial in Ottawa was shot dead by an unidentified gunman. Shots continued to be fired later at the Canadian Parliament, which is located nearby.
An investigation is currently underway in Ottawa, with residents having been advised not to approach the shooting sites and "stay away from windows and off roofs".
