MOSCOW, May 17 (RIA Novosti) - Two suspects have been arrested in last week’s shooting that left 19 people injured in New Orleans, the US state of Louisiana, US media reported.

CBS News reported citing police as saying Thursday that a second suspect was arrested in the shooting at a parade on Mother's Day. Shawn Scott, 24, was detained Thursday, according to police chief Ronal Serpas. Shawn is the brother of Akein Scott, 19, arrested Wednesday night in the case.

The brothers are believed to be involved in gangs, CNN quoted police as saying. Akein is facing 20 counts of attempted second-degree murder in the Sunday shooting, with his bail set at $10 million during his first appearance in court Thursday morning, the network reported referring to court records.

Serpas said police arrested another four people accused of assisting Akein Scott in avoiding capture. Their charges are being accessories to attempted second-degree murder and obstruction of justice, he said, adding that their age ranges from 19 to 32, CBS said.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Frenchmen and North Villere Streets during a Mother's Day second-line parade, the Fox 8 TV station quoted police as saying Sunday. A few hundred were attending the parade when shots were fired. There were no fatalities.

Three are still in critical condition, CNN quoted authorities as saying Thursday.

AP cited the FBI as saying a few days ago the shooting was not linked to terrorism but appeared to be “street violence.”
