Left-wing activists have halted several Madrid metro trains on Tuesday in protest at fare hikes.
Protesters applied emergency brakes in nine trains during rush hour this morning.
Fares went up by 30 percent earlier this month as part of the government's austerity plan, in a move which angered Madrid residents, who have staged a number of underground protests over the past few weeks.
Madrid's authorities raised prices last year and had initially promised there would be no further increases this year.
