United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon paid a tribute to Silicon valley guru Steve Jobs, who died on Wednesday, and said “he was truly global force.”

“Steve Jobs was unlike any other,” Ban said in a statement released by his spokesperson on Thursday.

“He believed above all else in the power of human ingenuity - to create ‘tools’ that people could use, that would not only improve our lives but, quite literally, change the world,” he added.

Jobs, the heart and soul of the computer technologies giant that he co-founded in a garage and then reigned for 14 years, died of pancreatic cancer on Wednesday at the age of 56, just over a month after deteriorating health forced him to resign from the company.
