Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday when a hand grenade was thrown at his convoy, regional media reports said.
The attempt on Ahmadinejad's life took place as he was on his way to the city of Hamedan to make an address to the nation, the Dubai-based Al Arabiya TV channel said.
Unnamed sources said the bomb hit the part of the presidential convoy carrying journalists.
The would-be-assassin was arrested, reports say.
However, Iranian state TV channel Press TV dismissed the reports of the attack, citing a source in the presidential office.
On Monday, Ahmadinejad accused the Israeli security services of planning to kill him.
Ahmadinejad was also the subject of an assassination attempt in December 2005 in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province in southeast Iran.
The Sunni rebel group Jundallah was blamed for the attack.
The attackers shot the Iranian leader's bodyguards when the presidential security service was checking the route to be used later by Ahmadinejad.
