DONETSK, December 1 (RIA Novosti) - An explosion ripped through the notorious Zasyadko coal mine in eastern Ukraine early Saturday injuring 52 people, who have been hospitalized, the regional administration said.

The rescue service said there were 385 miners underground at the moment of the blast, which reportedly occurred at 4 a.m. GMT, adding that all people have been evacuated by now.

This is a second explosion at the mine in the past two weeks. On November 18, a blast at the Zasyadko mine in the Donetsk Region, the heart of the country's coal industry, caused a fire to rage through the mine. A total of 101 miners died.

Authorities said then that faulty equipment and poor safety conditions may have been behind the methane blast at the mine.

An investigation is underway.
