JAKARTA, October 19 (RIA Novosti) - At least 29 people died after a ferry, carrying over 150 passengers, capsized off the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, the Antara Indonesian news agency said Friday.

The agency said that 125 passengers were rescued from the Indonesian ferry, which sank at about 9:00 p.m. (14:00 GMT) on Thursday, 500 meters (1,640 feet) from the shore.

Local officials said many more passengers could still be missing as the number of people on the vessel is unknown.

There have been a number of accidents in the world's largest archipelagic state. In December, over 400 people drowned when a ferry sank near Indonesia's island of Java.
