GLENEAGLES (Scotland), July 7 (RIA Novosti) - G8 leaders condemned the "barbaric attacks" in London and confirmed their commitment to combating terrorism together. "We are united in our resolve to confront and defeat this terrorism," said a joint statement read by British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
This act of terrorism "is not an attack on one nation but on all nations and on civilized people everywhere." G8 leaders said. "
We will not allow violence to change our societies or our values." Blair continued, "nor will we allow it to stop the work of this summit."
According to the statement, "The perpetrators of today's attacks are intent on destroying human life."
"Today's bombings will not weaken in any way our resolve to uphold the most deeply held principles of our societies and to defeat those who would impose their fanaticism and extremism on all of us. We shall prevail and they shall not," said Blair reading the statement, which was adopted at a meeting of the G8 leaders and five developing nations - China, India, Brazil, Mexico, and South Africa.
