The A-135 is a military complex deployed around Moscow to counter enemy missiles targeting the cities and its surrounding areas.
The system attained operational status on February 17, 1995. It is currently operational although one of its components is deactivated. It will be replaced with a new missile system.
The A-135 is operated by the 9th Division of Anti-Missile Defense, part of the Air Defense and Missile Defense Command of the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces.
