As the Russian capital is fighting against the spread of Covid-19, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has signed a decree obliging everyone travelling around the city to have special digital passes in order to minismise the number of people walking outside amid the pandemic.

Ruptly went out in Moscow on Friday evening to show how the residents of the capital are coping with new restrictions imposed by the city authorities in a push to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The footage filmed by the video agency shows streets in the city centre which are now mostly deserted due to the restrictions.

The digital travel pass system was introduced in Russia's capital on Wednesday to minimise the number of people going out and therefore limiting the spread of Covid-19. Every person using a car or public transport is obliged to have a pass to enter Moscow and travel around the city.

As of Friday evening, Moscow has 18,105 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 1,517 of them being registered over the past 24 hours.
