Fireworks filled the sky following Russia’s Victory Day Parade held in Moscow’s Red Square, where thousands of troops and 100 state-of-the-art military vehicles marched to celebrate the defeat of Nazi Germany.

"The Soviet Union faced the most powerful assaults by the Nazis, but there is no force, and there will be no force, that could conquer our people," Russian President Vladimir Putin said in remarks at the event. Smaller-scale parades known as the Immortal Regiment took place across Russia and the world to commemorate the more than 25 million Russian men and women who died in the Second World War.
