    Two men were killed in Russia's southern republic of Dagestan after opening fire on police officers, a local Interior Ministry representative said Wednesday.

    MAKHACHKALA (Sputnik) — The incident occurred when law enforcement stopped a car on a federal motorway for document check.

    "At around 22:00 [19:00 GMT] on Tuesday, police officers stopped a VAZ-2109 car on a federal motorway near the village of Manas in the Karabudakhkentsky District of Dagestan to conduct document checks. People located in the cabin started shooting at police. Two men were killed by response fire," the representative told RIA Novosti.
