The statement made by Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria made a stir all over the world. However, the subject of the heated debates among many Internet bloggers was not Syria, but a strange object in the background behind Putin's back.

A mysterious object in Putin's cabinet was spotted by the German magazine Spiegel Online during the broadcast of his statement on Syria.

At first many internet users thought that the item was nothing else but an ironing-board and even made jokes about "poor" Putin ironing his own shirts at night.

The mystery, however, was revealed after the statement by a representative of Putin's administration that the strange object is a household item for air disinfection.

The UV irradiator "Dezar-7" is a device often used in hospitals and public institutions in order to prevent the spread of respiratory diseases. The device destroys from 90% to 99% of all microbes in a few seconds.

According to the representative, Putin faces an increased risk of becoming infected, as he holds a large number of meetings in the Kremlin. The German magazine, however, perceived Putin's fear to catch a cold with irony, calling it a "capricious whim" of the Russian President.
