Some 100 people were evacuated from the Novosibirsk Hydroelectric Plant after a report about a planted explosive.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Almost 100 people were evacuated from a Novosibirsk hydroelectric plant in the Russian region of Siberia on the Ob River after a report of an explosive device at the dam, a police source said Friday.

“Around 100 people were evacuated after a report about a planted explosive device at the Novosibirsk Hydroelectric Plant,” the source told RIA Novosti.

Specialists have arrived at the scene to investigate the incident, according to the source.

Novosibirsk Hydroelectric Plant's spokeswoman, Olesya Tarasova, confirmed the news to RIA Novosti.

Last time, a similar incident took place in 2010, she said. Back then, a message about an explosive device was a false call from a woman who had a psychiatric hospital record, Tarasova noted.

At present, the plant is operating normally, all repairs have been suspended, and the staff has been evacuated, she said.
