MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, an order on the commission's creation was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"It's part of overall anti-terrorist activities, because eradication of financing of terrorism requires the efforts of a wide variety of agencies, it is a matter of coordination of the work of these departments. It will be the commission’s responsibility," Peskov told reporters.
He noted that the commission’s composition had not been defined yet and would be presented for consideration in the near future.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an order ‘On Interdepartmental Commission on Countering the Financing of Terrorism,’” the Kremlin said in a statement.
“Recommendation to the organs of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the organs of state authority of the subjects of the Russian Federation, the organs of local authority, and other state organs and organizations to send materials they have on hand that contain information on the possible involvement of organizations or physical beings in terrorist activities (including the financing of terrorism) to the Interdepartmental Commission on Countering the Financing of Terrorism,” the statement reads.
