MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia will hold all-army championships in tank biathlon military games and "Suvorov's onslaught" infantry combat vehicle (BMP) races, in the southern Volgograd Region on June 22-25, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service said Monday.
Competition winners will be awarded the right to participate in the International Army Games-2015 to be held in the town of Alabino, Moscow Region, in August.
"The crews of the tanks and infantry combat vehicles arrived at the Prudboy range in the Volgograd Region to take part in all-army competitions tank biathlon and Suvorov's onslaught," the ministry’s press service said.
The tank biathlon is a Russian competition similar to a regular biathlon, with teams testing their driving skills and shooting at targets simulating tanks and low-flying helicopters.
Suvorov's onslaught is a competition between BMP-2 fighting vehicle crews crossing obstacle zones and firing at with moving targets.
