Moscow to See Snowfall This Weekend
Despite warmer than normal weather in December, the first days in 2015 will be bitter cold in the Russian capital. Starting January 5, temperatures will start to fall: down to –7 – 9°C on Monday, followed by another five degrees on Tuesday. The peak of the cold spell will be on January 7, Christmas Day in Russia, when temperatures will drop down further, hitting –17 – 22°C in Moscow and –27°C in the Moscow Region.

On Thursday, however, the cold weather will retreat. Temperatures should be anywhere between –10 and –15°C.

The cold snap is a result of icy winds coming from the Arctic.
