MOSCOW, May 20 (RIA Novosti) – The operator of the freight wagons that derailed and crashed into a passenger train in Moscow Region on Tuesday killing at least nine people was a company based in Ukraine, sources told RIA Novosti.
“These were Ukrainian wagons,” an anonymous source said.
“The wagons are operated by a Ukrainian company,” another speaker familiar with the situation confirmed.
The accident occurred between Naro-Fominsk and Bekasovo, when a freight train derailed and collided with a long-distance passenger train enroute from Moscow to Chisinau, Moldova. Nine people were reported dead, and up to 50 were injured. Some 250 responders were working at the site of the accident.
