A baby died after being thrown out of window in a high-rise building on Wednesday in the city of Sergiev Posad near Moscow, a police source said.
The body was found by an employee of an office on the building’s ground floor. The Lifenews portal reported, quoting ambulance medics, the baby was thrown out of the tenth floor window.
A forensic examination will be held “to determine whether the baby was stillborn or died after hitting the ground,” the source said.
The woman who threw the baby was detained several hours later, the Moscow Region investigation department said.
She said she had decided to get rid of her stillborn baby because she had been concealing her pregnancy from her parents.
“The 17-year-old girl told investigators that she had given birth to a stillborn baby early in the morning. She concealed the pregnancy from her parents and decided to throw the baby out [the window] for fear of being punished,” an investigation department spokesman said.
