ST. PETERSBURG, November 1 (RIA Novosti, Olga Vtorova) - The labor union of Ford Motor Company's plant in the Leningrad region will go on a one-hour preventive strike Wednesday night, the Federation of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region Labor Unions said Tuesday.
In September, the Ford labor union demanded a 30% raise in wages and an annual bonus worth one month's wages. The plant's administration agreed to set up a commission to distribute social insurance funds and to revise the system of wages and bonuses.
The Ford plant in Vsevolzhsk opened in July 2002 and currently has more than 1,800 employees. In 2006, the plant is set to increase production of the Ford Focus by 70% to 60,000 cars per year.
