Vladivostok, July 26 (RIA Novosti, Anatoli Ilyukhov) - A Russian-South Korean caravan driving across Eurasia will be passing through the Pacific port of Vladivostok, in Russia's Far East, later today. The caravan has been organized to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II and the liberation of the Korean Peninsula from Japanese occupation. It will be stopping in all major cities along the way to meet with war veterans and survivors.

The caravan includes Russian and South Korean academics, university students, artists, and members of the general public. Two groups started off simultaneously from Moscow and Seoul on July 17 and are now heading for Lake Baikal, their meeting point.

South Korean Parliament Speaker Kim Won-ki and local government officials will gather on Vladivostok's main square Tuesday to greet the west-bound group, the City Hall's press office said. An official ceremony will be followed by an entertainment program featuring a military band and a Russian folk dance ensemble.
