MOSCOW, June 3, (RIA Novosti) - Belarussian air defense force units will hold exercises at two Russian training centers, the Belarussian Embassy said.

The Belarussian 377th surface-to-air missile (SAM) regiment will train at the Telemba training center (Chita Region, Siberia) this July, while the 15th SAM brigade is to go to Ashuluk in southern Astrakhan Region.

Since Belarus has no appropriate places to train its S-200 and S-300 SAM crews, more than 3,000 Belarussian servicemen have been sent to Russia's Ashuluk, Telemba and Cape Taran training centers since 1996.

Since 1998, Belarussian air defense units have been part of joint CIS Boyevoye Sodruzhestvo live firing exercises.

The largest exercise in the history of the Belarussian Army was held last year. The West and North-West Tactical Air/Air Defense Commands simultaneously trained at Ashuluk for the first time. All targets were destroyed and state-of-the-art Belarussian automated control systems tested, the Belarussian Embassy said.
