We have all heard horror stories of child abuse in schools, but what is happening now? Have schools cleaned up their act, or are there still some teachers and schools which are facilitating the creation of hell on earth for kids? What tell-tale signs are there that teachers and parents should be aware of to detect whether kids are being abused?

In an open and frank discussion, Ross Hunter, the interim headmaster of The English Science and IT School in Moscow discusses the changes that have taken place in education in order to prevent abuse happening. The reason that abuse is such a hot topic these days, in that at last societies are more open and thus we are able to see what is happening in our schools more clearly and discuss the situation more openly. This is itself is progress. The necessity of an interaction between schools and parents is highlighted as being of key importance, as it is this which enables both teachers and parents to become aware of abuse in the first place; as most children, as well paedophilic teachers and parents try to cover this up.
