UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura stated that the next round of the Geneva talks on Syria may take place in early September.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Geneva talks on Syria may take place in early September, preceded by the Astana negotiations on the situation in the country, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said Thursday.

"You will have Astana probably in the end of August, you will have early September the Holy Eid [September 1], then you will have possibly the Geneva talks if we feel the timing and the appropriate moment is there, then you will have the [UN] General Assembly [September 18-25]," de Mistura told a briefing.
