WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — China hopes the Astana talks will help maintain a ceasefire in Syria and advance the progress made at negotiations in Geneva, Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations Liu Jieyi said at a National Security Council meeting on Wednesday.
"China hopes that the Astana talks continue to play its important role in maintaining ceasefire and advancing the Geneva talks for progress," the envoy stated.
