Ukraine welcomes possible initiating of legal proceedings on the MH17 case in the Netherlands as such trial in Ukraine could be politicized, First Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Dmytro Storozhuk said on Wednesday.

KIEV (Sputnik) – Flight MH17 crashed on July 17, 2014 in eastern Ukraine while flying to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam. All 298 passengers and crew aboard the passenger jet died.

“Of course, the Ukrainian side supports launching legal proceedings on this case at a national court of the Netherlands. That is one of the options that are being discussed today. Because all court sessions in Ukraine will be politicized, there will be constant accusations of the biased approach as Ukraine is a party to the military conflict on our territory,” Storozhuk said at a press conference.

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), which comprises Australia, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Belgium and Malaysia, tasked with probing the crash announced on September 28 that the MH17 airliner was allegedly downed by a Buk missile system with a missile allegedly launched from the territory controlled by the Donbass militias. Moscow rejected the findings, calling the report "biased and politically motivated."
