Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that Tehran and Moscow have similar positions and maintain high level of cooperation in this area fight against terrorism and it will continue until the final goal is reached - complete elimination of terrorism, restoration of peace and stability in the region.

Iran to Use All Resources in Joint Humanitarian Aleppo Operation With Russia
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Iran and Russia continue their close cooperation in the anti-terror fight and share similar stances on the necessity of eliminating terrorism in the Middle East, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Saturday.

"Tehran and Moscow have similar positions and maintain high level of cooperation in this area [fight against terrorism] and it will continue until the final goal is reached — complete elimination of terrorism, restoration of peace and stability in the region," Rouhani was quoted as saying by the IRINN television broadcaster.

Earlier in the day, Rouhani held a meeting with Russia's special envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev in Tehran.

Moscow and Tehran have been supporting the Syrian government in its struggle against numerous terrorist groups, such as the Islamic State (IS) and Nusra Front, which are outlawed in many countries, including Russia and the United States.
