Russian President Vladimir Putin may visit "the small motherland of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe", which is the Yamaguchi Prefecture.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The destination of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Japan next month could include the Yamaguchi Prefecture in addition to Tokyo, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.

"Yes, this possibility is indeed being worked on, the small motherland of Prime Minister [Shinzo] Abe," Peskov told reporters.
