    Moscow's European partners have been informed about steps to be taken in the direction of restoring peace in Syria, the speaker of Russia's upper house of parliament said.

    BERN (Switzerland), (Sputnik) — European partners have been advised on near-term steps to successfully combat terrorism and restore peace in Syria, Speaker of Russia's upper house of parliament Valentina Matvienko said Thursday.

    "As regards the situation around Syria, our European partners have been informed about what can and should be done in the near future to successfully fight terrorism and restore peace on Syrian soil," Matvienko told reporters.

    The leaders of Russia, France and Germany held 1.5-hour talks on Syria in Berlin following marathon talks on the conflict in Donbass late Wednesday and early Thursday.
