US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has ignored the invitation to meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at the 71st General Assembly of the United Nations, a US-based newspaper reported Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) According to a representative of the Ukrainian leader's administration, Poroshenko extended invitations to meet with US presidential nominees Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump, but received no response from Trump's campaign.

According to Trump’s official schedule he has already left New York City, and will spend the week carrying out rallies in Ohio and Pennsylvania until the end of the UN meeting on September 26.

The president of Ukraine met with former US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, on Monday. According to the Ukrainian president’s press release, he thanked Clinton for her support of Ukraine. The leaders also discussed the situation in Donbas and the effectiveness of sanctions imposed against Russia.
