UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) – He stressed that a deal should consider the needs of Syrians above what is convenient for other countries.
"There are many meetings taking place now and they will, I hope, reach something that is suitable for the Syrian people," Abdullah said on the sidelines of the official gathering at UN headquarters in New York. "It is important to try to stop the killing of people and to let them have peace of mind and peace."
The ambassador said the Russian and Saudi delegations will meet at the General Assembly this week, explaining that the countries’ foreign ministers are working together on the Syria situation.
Earlier on Tuesday, members of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) agreed on the importance of pursuing a nationwide ceasefire agreement after a UN humanitarian-aid convoy was attacked in Aleppo on Monday.
US Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters that the ISSG will meet again on Friday.
