MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Turkish Foreign Minister Mevluet Cavusoglu said Sunday that Ankara would back out of the migrant deal with the bloc if it does not have a clear perspective for EU visa liberalization by early or mid-October.
"I reject the ultimatum by Mevlut Cavusoglu. The EU must not become dependent and must protect its external borders," Kurz tweeted.
Weise Ultimatum von @MevlutCavusoglu zurück. #EU darf sich nicht in Abhängigkeit begeben & muss Außengrenzen selbst schützen.

Under the EU-Turkey deal, Turkey agreed to take back all undocumented migrants who come ashore in Greece if EU countries have Syrian refugees resettled from Turkish camps on a one-for-one basis. Brussels also promised to accelerate Turkey's EU entry and introduce visa-free regime.
